When you go to the supermarket, you inevitably stroll down the Snack isle; Perhaps looking for a Healthy Snack, such as a baked potato chip or one cooked in sunflower oil. The snacks are for ourselves, or perhaps our families, but the bottom line is we want a snack that tastes good.

While occasionally eating chips isn’t so bad, frequently eating fried and oily snacks can be bad for our entire body, potentially harming our skin care, weight, and general health. For those who are in search of a healthy alternative to snacks, please let me suggest the original snack, Fruit. If you eat fruit, you will eat a flavorful snack that is loaded with vitamins and contains NO oil.

Eating more fruit is important for anybody, but especially those with children. If you always give your children fruit as a snack, it will be normal and they will benefit from it for the rest of their lives.

For those who already eat fruit, please leave your comments about your favorites, and for those who are new to fruit, today is a good day to start. Living in the US for most of my life, and now living in Thailand for the past 4 years, I have tried a variety of fruits, and overall I would say Clementines are the my favorite fruit. They are easy to peel (even your kids can peel them by themselves), no seeds, and they taste GREAT. Its about that time of the year too, so keep an eye out for them. You and your kids will love them. Honorable mention to Peaches, Pineapple and Pomelos (south east asia fruit, very similar to grapefruits but no bitter after taste).

Natural Products Expo East 2007

Its that time of year, the Natural Products Expo East is back again, and back in Baltimore. Their website says it best, “Natural Products Expo East isn’t just a trade show. It’s your chance to see, hear, smell, taste and get your hands on everything new in the natural, organic and healthy products industry. ”

If you have been there before then you know what its all about. If you have never seen the sites of the the Natural Products Expo, it truly is an experience. I have been fortunate enough to visit the show both in Baltimore, as well as the few years it was in Washington DC. Suppliers from all facets of Natural Products come to showcase their company, and new products.

It will be in Baltimore again this year, from September 27 - 29th, in the Baltimore Convention Center which is large, and will be packed with suppliers, buyer, brokers, retailers, and onlookers, each of which will be busy filling up their freebie bags with the endless rows of samples that will be given away. Some of the most memorable samples in the past, other than all of the food, would have to be the chewable tooth brushes, vitamin C gum, aura readers, and most of all free back massages (honestly, I am not sure what that company was selling).

For all who are going, Enjoy !! For those who do not yet have plans to be there, do what you can to change whatever plans you may have and get there, you will not be sorry.

Prevent Constipation

Anybody who has had to deal with pain caused by constipation will agree that it is a highly uncomfortable feeling that effects you throughout the day. In severe cases, the pain can become acute. Constipation can occur to anyone, from newborns, to the elderly, and everywhere in between.

While there are medicines available that will help quickly cure the gas, bloating, and pain of constipation, these medicines can also be unpredictable and cause a new set of problems that may leave you stuck with in arms distance of a bathroom.

Like with many other physical ailments, it can be argued that the best offense is a good defense; and by that I mean trying to prevent constipation from ever occurring.

For good health in general watching the foods you eat is a good idea, but this natural remedy is not about what you eat, but what you drink. Drinking adequate amounts of water are a key factor to help prevent constipation.

Water, Juice (Prune juice is an ideal choice), and Tea can all help. Coffee can help in certain cases as the caffeine gives you body a jolt that often times will be solution, though coffee can also leave your body dehydrated. Soda is a bad idea to drink in general, let along when trying to prevent constipation. The gas of any carbonated beverage will only add to the problem.

I have talked with many who do not like to drink water, and rightfully claim that Juice has a lot of unwanted sugars. Tea is a very good idea in this case. There are many types of tea to drink, though I personally recommend Lemongrass tea when trying to prevent constipation. It tastes like lemons, it aides your digestion, you can drink it hot as well as iced (using little to no sugar depending on how you like it), and it is highly refreshing. You can make a pitcher with 1 or 2 tea bags, which will last for 2 or 3 days, maybe even longer. Most importantly, the added hydration will help you body’s digestive system run smoothly, helping to prevent constipation.

Natural Remedy for Sore Throat

A Sore Throat can be extremely irritating, and constantly cause pain. Often times it may lead to coughing and without a treatment, a sore throat can get worse and worse until it becomes severe.

While in the case of a severe soar throat you should seek medical attention from a physician as the problem may be more serious and require special medicine, an average or minor sore throat can be helped by this Natural Home Remedy.

This remedy is extremely simple and is a traditional Thai Herbal Home Remedy.
Preparation:

Fill a glass of water about ¼ full, and then add a pinch of dried Chili Pepper. Stir the water until mixed and you are now ready.

Action:

Take a deep breath, take a medium sized sip of the solution (DO NOT SWALLOW THE WATER), and begin to gargle. Gargle for as long as you can, and when you are out of breath, spit out the chili water.

Repeat this step 3 times.

If the water you used is strong, you may want to drink fresh water from another glass to clear you throat.

If sore throat persists, repeat this process 2 or 3 times a day.

Tips for Better Sleeping

Tip 1: Exercise – Be Tired

It sounds simple, but being tired when you go to sleep is a great way to fall asleep. Having too much energy, or being “wound up” before you sleep is a popular cause of insomnia and sleep orders. If you do not have time to really exercise, simplify your exercise routine.
