Tips for Better Sleeping

Tip 1: Exercise – Be Tired
It sounds simple, but being tired when you go to sleep is a great way to fall asleep. Having too much energy, or being “wound up†before you sleep is a popular cause of insomnia and sleep orders. If you do not have time to really exercise, simplify your exercise routine. After you eat dinner, take a walk around the block. 20 minutes of walking after dinner will not only help you to fully digest your food (which will also help you to sleep and lose weight), but you will burn extra calories, which is energy, as well as help to reduce the your stress level. In addition to sleeping, there are several benefits to walking and exercise. If you have a family, Walking or Exercise can be a good family activity. Badminton, Wiffle Ball, and Frisbee are great after dinner family activities that will not only allow you to spend quality time with your family, but also get your whole family to exercise.
Tip 2: Hypnotize Yourself - use a Mantra
This sleeping tip might seem like a little hocus pocus for some, but it really works. A lot of times when people try to sleep, their mind is racing as they think about a million things. I know this has been a major problem for me as I would try to fall asleep and I would think about what I will do tomorrow, what i did that day, yesterday, 10 years ago, etc…and I just can’t fall asleep. Its frustrating to say the least to have all these thoughts going through your head. How do you get rid of them ? Redirect your energy. Focus your thoughts onto one mantra, or phrase that you slowly repeat. If your mind tries to think of something else, just think of your mantra, over and over again, slowly. You may have to force it at first. Any positive affirmation will work, and may have a side benefit for those who believe in positive affirmations. For those who like to remember their dreams, say “I will remember my dreams†slow and drawn out over and over again until you are asleep.
3. Herbalize
Again, Hocus Pocus, I know that is what you are thinking. Herbal Remedies are more beneficial than you think. Herbs come in many forms and many varieties. Perhaps most common are Herbal Teas. Herbal teas are all caffeine free, and while they can naturally refresh you in the afternoon, they can also calm you down at night. Because tea is hot, you are forced to drink slowly. Step 1 towards slowing down your system. Through both aroma and nature, many herbal teas have the ability to soothe your senses, calming down your stress levels, Step 2. Some herbal teas such as Lemongrass can also help you digest your food, helping you to feel light and relaxed. In addition to teas, herbs come in a variety of supplements. The supplements contain a mixture of herbs specially targeted at counter acting insomnia and other sleep disorders. If you live in the USA, you can order a free day trial of Sleep Rite by a company called Essential Living. Another herbal sleep aide is called SNOOZ which is available world wide.
Overall, each of these Sleeping tips will individually allow you have sleep better. If one alone doesn’t work for you, try using all three together which is a near guarantee. Not only will they allow you better sleep at night, but they you will feel better the next day as you will begin to live a more healthy lifestyle.
